Nathan:

Doesn't the message portend the potential loss of data? If it's just Mac OS X bitching sign me up for disabling it, but isn't the larger issue Mac OS X not preparing for the fact that I might yank the cable at any minute? Maybe things have changed (actually, they almost certainly have) but I lost an entire class's work by removing a USB drive without ejecting it. It was 2003.
